Shipulin leads Russia to biathlon relay win over Germany

ANTERSELVA, Italy (AP) Anton Shipulin led Russia to a narrow win in a men's World Cup biathlon relay on Sunday, while France cruised to victory in the women's event.

Shipulin edged clear of Germany's Simon Schempp in the last loop for a one-second win

The Russian team of Maxim Tsvetkov, Evgeniy Garanichev, Dmitry Malyshko and Shipulin had seven spares, while Germany had a penalty and four spares. Norway was third, with seven spares, 22.9 seconds back.

It was less close in the women's event as the French team of Justine Braisaz, Anais Bescond, Anais Chevalier and Marie Dorin Habert finished 17.2 seconds ahead of the Czech Republic.

France had eight spares, while the Czech Republic had two penalties and seven spares.

Russia was third, 21.1 off the pace, with 10 spares.
