IGLS, Austria (AP) Anja Schneiderheinze of Germany won gold in the two-woman bobsled competition at the world championships Saturday, a week after retaining her European title.
In the final two heats, Schneiderheinze and brakewoman Annika Drazek extended their lead from Friday's opening two runs to beat Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries and Melissa Lotholz of Canada by 0.33 seconds.
Defending champion Elana Meyers Taylor and Lauren Gibbs of the United States took bronze, 0.49 off the lead.
It was Schneiderheinze's second world title after 2005 but first as a pilot. She was pusher for Sandra Kiriasis when they took gold at the worlds 11 years ago in Calgary, Alberta.
Earlier Saturday, Johannes Lochner and Francesco Friedrich gave Germany a 1-2 lead after two heats of the two-man bobsled competition.
