Two-time World Champion wrestler Viktor Lebedev was expected to contend for a medal this summer in Rio de Janeiro for Russia, but the wrestler announced Tuesday that he is giving up his spot on the Olympic team after winning a controversial qualifying tournament.

Lebedev won the gold medal at kilograms in the 2016 Russian Nationals over the weekend, but his semifinal match against Ismail Musukayev ended with a minor brawl after Musukayev became outraged with the officiating. Referees were accused of giving Lebedev advantageous calls - and Lebedev is now withdrawing from the 2016 Olympics as a result.
