Russia routs Britain 76-54 in exhibition

Andrei Kirilenko had 16 points and eight rebounds, and Russia used a big second half to cruise to a 76-54 victory over Britain in an international exhibition game Thursday.

Viktor Khryapa and Vitaliy Fridzon each had 10 points for Russia, which scored 50 points - 25 each in the third and fourth quarters - after trailing 28-26 at halftime. After struggling in the first half, Russia shot nearly 50 percent in the last two quarters, going 19 for 39 from the field for 48.7 percent.

Joel Freeland had 18 points for Britain in the game played in Hofheinz Pavilion at the University of Houston.

The exhibition game was one of several here this week in preparation for the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which begins next week in Caracas, Venezuela.
