International Tennis Federation President Franceso Ricci Bitti is set to become the new head of the umbrella body of summer Olympic sports.

The Italian was the only candidate nominated by Monday's deadline for the presidency of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations.

Ricci Bitti's formal election will take place at the ASOIF general assembly in Quebec City on May 22. His four-year term will start on Jan. 1, 2013.

Ricci Bitti replaces Denis Oswald of Switzerland, the president of rowing's world governing body. Oswald steps down as ASOIF president at the end of the year.

Still to be decided is who replaces Oswald as ASOIF's representative on the International Olympic Committee executive board. His term on the board expires this year.
