Four-time Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso will undergo hip surgery on Wednesday and miss the 2015-16 World Cup ski season, the U.S. Ski Team announced

While there is no recovery timeline at this point, the alpine skier hopes to be back on the slopes by late next March in order to fully rehabilitate and prepare for the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, in 2018.

"If I were to try to push through, get more treatments and try to ski this season, I would just be setting myself back towards the real goal, which is PyeongChang 2018," Mancuso said in a statement.
