KUWAIT CITY (AP) Kuwait's government has decided to terminate its agreement with the Olympic Council of Asia.

Kuwait's state-run KUNA news agency reported the government's decision, saying it came during a Cabinet meeting Monday.

KUNA quoted Minster of Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Al Sabah as saying the decision came after the International Olympic Committee suspended Kuwait for political interference last week.

This is Kuwait's second suspension in the past five years, barring the tiny oil-rich country's athletes from participating next year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Officials from the Kuwaiti government could not be immediately reached for comment.

Last week, FIFA also suspended Kuwait after it failed to change its sports law by Oct. 15. Kuwaiti teams and clubs are banned from international competition. The association and its members are barred from receiving FIFA development assistance.
