IOC candidate Oswald wants new Olympic sports
IOC presidential candidate Denis Oswald says the Olympics could add new sports by cutting some existing events and disciplines.
Oswald says a ''more creative approach'' is needed to establish the sports program in the wake of the IOC's handling of wrestling's Olympic status.
The Swiss lawyer is one of six candidates to succeed Jacques Rogge, who steps down in September. Oswald held a news conference Monday to talk about his campaign platform.
Oswald says established sports could ''streamline'' some disciplines where ''only four or five nations'' usually win medals.
Oswald says he's ''pretty convinced'' that wrestling will return to the Olympics after being dropped from the core list for the 2020 Games in a process that was designed to bring in a new sport.
