London Olympic organizers have signed up Heathrow airport as the 42nd domestic sponsor of the 2012 Summer Games.

With about 80 percent of people traveling to the Olympics expected to pass through Heathrow, the airport has become a tier three sponsor.

The tier three status costs sponsors about $16.3 million.

British Aviation Authority Chief Executive Colin Matthews says ''Heathrow will be the first and last impression of the London 2012 Games for thousands of people.''
