Gymnast Laurie Hernandez the odds-on favorite to win 'Dancing With the Stars'
Vegas oddsmakers have weighed in on the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars," and it looks like Olympic champion and balance beam silver medalist Laurie Hernandez is the favorite to win the coveted Mirrorball trophy.
According to Bovada.lv, the 16-year-old gymnast from New Jersey is a 4-1 favorite to become the "DWTS" Season 23 champion, followed by Amber Rose (5-1) and 90s rapper Vanilla Ice (7-1).
Former Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has 8-1 odds, while Hernandez's fellow Team USA member, swimmer Ryan Lochte, is 10-1.
And it's no surprise to see Hernandez atop the "DWTS" rankings. Olympic gymnasts have historically done well on the show. Shawn Johnson won her season and was runner-up in "DWTS: All-Stars," while Hernandez's Final Five teammate Aly Raisman finished fourth during Season 16.
Never mind that Hernandez herself is the equivalent of a human sparkle, a bubbly ball of effervescent energy with a winning megawatt smile and the discipline of an Olympic champion.
And looks like she was built to move.
Just check out her practice moves with pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy:
In other words, Hernandez is a natural in the glitterverse.
