Gebrselassie fails to qualify for 10,000 in London
Haile Gebrselassie failed to qualify for the 10,000 meters at the London Games on Sunday, finishing outside the top two of the Ethiopian qualifiers at the FBK Games.
Gebrselassie had already failed to make it among the marathon qualifiers and had a fleeting hope he could go through in the 10,000, where he won gold in 1996 and 2000.
Tariku Bekele won Sunday's race. Brother Kenenisa Bekele, the 2004 and `08 Olympic champion, will likely get the Ethiopian wild card for London.
In the 400, 18-year-old Santos Luguelin of the Dominican Republic set the second-best time of the season, with 44.45 seconds, trailing only American LaShawn Merritt. On Sunday, he beat Martyn Rooney of Britain.
Kellie Wells won the 100 hurdles in 12.81 seconds, edging U.S. compatriot Lolo Jones.
