Faivre has lead after giant slalom 1st run at WCup finals

ST. MORITZ, Switzerland (AP) Mathieu Faivre takes a slight advantage into the second run of the men's giant slalom on Saturday after edging out French teammate Alexis Pinturault in the opening leg at the season-ending World Cup finals.

Faivre has a lead of 0.2 seconds over Pinturault, who has won four races in the discipline this season.

Marcel Hischer has also won four giant slalom races this season to successfully defend his World Cup title. The Austrian, who won five times in the discipline last season, is a second behind Pinturault.

The 27-year-old Hirscher has also already secured a fifth successive overall title.

Italian skier Florian Eisath is third, 0.47 behind Faivre.
