The canoe slalom venue for the 2012 London Olympics has hosted its first test event less than a year before the games begin.

Shaun Dawson, chief executive of Lee Valley Regional Park Authourity, said Monday in a statement that ''we're delighted with the success of the event and the positive comments athletes and officials from across the world have made.''

The canoe single men's race was won by Michal Martikan of Slovakia, followed by Jan Benzien of Germany and Denis Gargaud Chanut of France.
