British Olympic group gets OK on drug compliance
The World Anti-Doping Agency has declared Britain's Olympic committee compliant with the global anti-doping code. The decision comes the day after the Olympic host country rescinded its lifetime bans for drug offenders.
WADA also received suggested changes to the code at its board meeting Friday.
Among them is an International Olympic Committee rule barring athletes who have received drug bans of more than six months from competing in the next games. In a ruling last year, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said the IOC rule amounted to a second sanction and wasn't part of the WADA code.
The court also ruled against Britain's lifetime bans, clearing the way for British sprinter Dwain Chambers and cyclist David Millar to be eligible for selection for the London Olympics. Both served two-year doping bans.
