Police were searching Monday for a former Olympic boxing hopeful in connection with a shooting of a two-year-old Maryland boy, myFOXdc.com reported.

Deandre Johnson was shot in the face by a stay bullet shortly after 9:00 p.m. Saturday outside his mother's home in Glenarden, about 11 miles east of Washington, DC.

Officials said the boy was in a critical but stable condition.

Prince George's County Police were searching for 18-year-old Deven Angel Matos, calling him a "person of interest."

"We really need to bring him in and the Chief has put every available man on this," Corporal Evan Baxter said.

Baxter said detectives want to talk to Matos about why two men started shooting at each other in the parking lot outside Johnson's apartment.

Police may not be able to find him on the streets, but Matos is all over YouTube, with sources telling myFOXdc.com that he was a former Junior Olympic boxer once ranked No. 1 in the country for his age group.

Boxing friends said Matos was training for the 2012 Olympics earlier this summer when a shoulder injury forced him out of the ring.
