Thomas Bach is set to resign as head of Germany's national sports body to assume his new role as president of the International Olympic Committee.

The German Olympic Sports Confederation, or DOSB, is expected to announce Bach's official resignation on Monday, with Hans-Peter Kraemer to take over on an interim basis.

Kraemer will serve out the remainder of Bach's term until Dec. 2014 unless early elections are called for December this year. The DOSB's general assembly takes place on Dec. 7.

Bach was elected IOC president last week in Buenos Aires, Argentina, succeeding Jacques Rogge.

Bach is also resigning as president of the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Some Jewish groups claimed the group is anti-Israeli.

Bach is also relinquishing his position on the court of appeals at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

He will visit his new offices at IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Tuesday.
