INNSBRUCK, Austria (AP) The Austrian ski federation says its team doctor Michael Sachs has died in a hospital in Sion, one day after he collapsed before a women's World Cup downhill training in Crans Montana.
According to a statement by the federation, Sachs had been treated on the intensive care unit following the incident, which occurred in the finish area of the Swiss venue on Thursday. It didn't reveal a cause of death.
The federation says Sachs ''was a long-term and very dedicated sports doctor and worked with full commitment as a team doctor with the Austrian ski federation and its athletes on the skiing World Cup and European Cup.''
