The U.S. Olympic team's chief medical officer says skier Stacey
Cook has been released from a clinic with pain and stiffness hours
after crashing during the opening women's Olympic downhill training
run.
Jim Moeller says Cook was taken by helicopter to a medical
facility Thursday as a precaution, and X-rays and a CT scan showed
no damage.
She slammed into the safety netting at full speed but managed
to get up and stand under her own power. She then sat down and was
tended to by the medical staff.
Cook was one of two racers who started training runs before
the session was canceled because of thick fog. She has hasn't been
ruled out for Friday's training run.
