A glance at the women's Alpine combined at worlds Monday

The women's Alpine combined race Monday, an event that features one run of downhill and another of slalom, with the times combined. It's also been called a super-combined.

Gold, Maria Hoefl-Riesch, Germany. Silver, Tina Maze, Slovenia. Bronze, Nicole Hosp, Austria.

THE FAVORITES

Maze: She's already 2 for 2 in medals at the world championships, with a silver in super-G and gold in downhill. She's trying to win a medal in every event.

Hosp: She was the silver medalist at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Lindsey Vonn of the U.S.: If she's close after the downhill portion, she could make things interesting for the slalom. She hasn't really raced slalom in years, however. But it will certainly rev up the hometown crowd should she be near the top of the leaderboard.

Julia Mancuso, United States: She did win Olympic bronze in Sochi and tends to elevate her skiing to another level at big events.

Anna Fenninger, Austria: Like Maze, she has two medals at worlds (gold, silver). She won the event at the 2011 world championships in Germany.

''I definitely skied (the downhill training Saturday). I put some power into the skis. I still made some mistakes, but I feel way better for the super-combined,'' - Canada's Marie-Michele Gagnon, whose boyfriend, American skier Travis Ganong, finished with the silver medal in the men's downhill Saturday.
