Yandle's risk worth the reward for Rangers GM Sather
New York GM Glen Sather traded in some sterling future prospects and draft picks to land 28-year-old defenseman Keith Yandle at the trade deadline in March, but the defenseman did not pay immediate dividends as he struggled with turnovers at the beginning of his New York career.
Now in the playoffs, Yandle is starting to look right at home with the Rangers. He played well throughout the Eastern Conference finals and showed some offensive mettle in Game 6 with a goal and an assist.
The 28-year-old admitted to reporters that there was a bit of an adjustment period as he settled in with New York, but it was one made well worth it considering the opportunity he faces.
"From where I came from, everyone there, from owners to the GM to the coaches, players, they all gave their 100 percent effort and really wanted to win," Yandle told the New York Post. "But it’s something that, when you come to a team like this, and the team is built to win, built around guys that know how to win and want to win, it’s special."
