Wild sign F Pominville to extension

The Minnesota Wild have signed forward Jason Pominville to a five-year contract extension.

The Wild announced the signing on Thursday in advance of the team's season opener against Winnipeg. Terms were not disclosed but multiple reports have the deal worth $28 million.

Pominville came to Minnesota from Buffalo last year in a trade for well-regarded prospects Matt Hackett and Johan Larsson. Pominville had four goals and five assists in 10 games for the Wild last season before the 2012 All-Star went down with a concussion.

Getting the deal done before the season started was a priority both for Pominville and the Wild.
