WATCH: Nervous Backes gives baseball a shot at Cardinals game
The St. Louis Blues might be in search of a new captain soon. Leader David Backes hung up the skates for a night and took to the baseball mound instead as he tossed out the first pitch at Monday night's St. Louis Cardinals game.
Backes did not let early nerves get the best of him, as it looked like his pitch caught the outside corner for a strike.
Unfortunately, it seems like Backes' baseball career might not work out since Cardinals manager Mike Matheny was not paying attention to the toss.
The Blues made the trip to Busch Stadium to celebrate Blues Night, an evening to honor the upcoming hockey season. The Cardinals wore special Blues-themed jerseys for batting practice and there was a pre-game rally with Louie and the Blue Crew.
