Boston Bruins and the Minnesota Wild are in Trade Talks Surrounding a Center and Defenseman from Respective Teams, Making for a Nice Little Trade Rumor.

A nice little trade rumor has been going around as of late regarding Bruin's center Ryan Spooner, and Minnesota defenseman Jonas Brodin. Now, will the trade happen? it's quite likely, the Wild need help down the middle since the acquisition of Martin Hanzal hasn't really paid off and Eric Staal is nearing retirement. Plus Mike Reilly is expected to make the jump next season leaving someone the odd man out. As for the Bruins Zdeno Chara is expected to retire and the will leave a void on the Bruins blue line that can't be filled from within, as of yet anyways.

So let's break down the numbers, Brodin has a cap hit of $4,166,667 for the next six years with a total worth of $25 million, plus he's still young at 23 years of age. Spooner, on the other hand, is a restricted free agent who is going to be receiving a huge payday from his old entry level deal that could see him gain upwards up $4 million as well. However, if he goes to arbitration and is awarded less, the ball is in Minnesota's court so to speak to where they can, in turn, ask for a little more such as a draft pick. If Spooner is awarded better the coin then becomes flipped.

Now, will this deal work for both teams? Absolutely. Minnesota is in desperate need of offensive help especially down the middle while Boston is going to need someone to fill the void left by Chara. It's only a matter of time before we find out what's going to happen and if the trigger is pulled on this at all, but by the sounds of it a lot of tires have been kicked and teams are ready.
