Toronto Maple Leafs: Seth Griffith Having A Good Showing
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Seth Griffith is making the most of his insertion into the lineup after waiting several games to be put into action.
While Griffith hasn’t recorded a point in his three games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, he’s been a bright spot during his time so far.
Three games isn’t much to go on, but it’s all we have and all indications are that Griffith is an effective player. He’s got the lowest corsi-against per 60 and the highest corsi-for per 60.
Even though he’s only played 26 minutes of 5v5 time, Griffith is taking his opportunity to force the Leafs to keep him in the lineup.

If he continues to generate chances and have positive play at both ends of the rink, Mike Babcock will have no choice but to keep him in the lineup.
The points haven’t been there but it’s well documented that the 23-year-old forward has offensive ability at the pro level.
He’s been shifted around in his three games, spending time with both the fourth line and Nazem Kadri’s line, supplanting Connor Brown. While Brown has earned more of a right to play with Kadri, Griffith is just playing better – and that’s a good problem to have.
It will be interesting to watch Griffith as the season continues to see if he can maintain his positive play – even with a small decline – for a significant period of time.
It’s too early to claim anything concrete as for his future as a Leaf or in the NHL, but what we’ve seen so far is the ability for another young Toronto Maple Leafs player to be effective on the ice.
With an already good prospect system, Griffith is just adding more icing to the cake as the Leafs move forward in the rebuilding process.
It’s only a matter of time before he starts to get on the scoresheet if he continues to play as well as his average over the first three games of his Leaf career.
Right now, for the Leafs, it’s not about wins and losses – it’s about getting positive play from the youth that they’re giving icetime to.
