Toronto Maple Leafs Rumors: Hampus Lindholm and Jared Cowen
The Toronto Maple Leafs are still trying to get rid of Jared Cowen, but they’re going to need to wait a little longer.
According to Bob McKenzie, it’s going to be nearly another month before the Cowen case gets settled for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
McKenzie: It’ll be mid-to-late November, probably, before we hear about Jared Cowen’s arbitration results. #Leafs 1050

The Cowen situation isn’t much of a distraction for the Leafs on the ice as Cowen wouldn’t be playing anyway, nor does he currently affect the salary cap in a negative manner.
If he doesn’t end up winning and coming back on the cap for Toronto then there will be financial consequences for the Leafs, but that can be rectified with a band-aid LTIR placement if space is needed.
As far as the league is concerned right now, Cowen is bought out. He’s fighting to prove otherwise.
It’s out of management’s hands now so they, like all of us, will have to wait another few weeks to find out just what Jared Cowen’s status will finally be.
Dreger shoots down Lindholm rumors
TSN’s Darren Dreger shot down rumors swirling in the depths of the mill about the Leafs and Hampus Lindholm.

I’m sure the Leafs would like to have Lindholm, like most other teams in the National Hockey League, but it won’t be cheap to acquire him.
An outrageous fee like van Riemsdyk + Gardiner shouldn’t even be entertained. If the cost is that high then the Leafs are wisely out of the race.
That being said, if there’s a chance Lindholm – and not Cam Fowler – is on the market then I’m sure there’s at least been a phone call placed. Lindholm is simply too good to completely ignore.
The Toronto Maple Leafs might have to wait for the Cowen situation to sort itself out before making any significant moves that require cap maneuvering, though. That would also explain the lack of rumors surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs, even with silent Lou at the helm.
