Toronto goaltending sensation James Reimer misses practice

Published Nov. 25, 2015 12:15 p.m. ET

All good things come to an end, but is James Reimer's run as Toronto's go-to netminder on the line?

It certainly does not look good. Reimer missed practice Wednesday after leaving practice early Tuesday with an undisclosed injury. Reimer was able to skate off the ice on his own Tuesday, but neither coach Mike Babcock nor any of Reimer's teammates were able to provide an update on Reimer after practice Tuesday.

The Leafs have enjoyed some stellar performances of late from Reimer, who started 11 of the last 12 games for Toronto after goalie Jonathan Bernier was placed on IR back on Oct. 31. Bernier has since been able to return to the lineup for Toronto but struggled in his one outing since returning from IR by allowing four goals on 30 shots in a Nov. 15 loss to the Rangers.

Toronto does not appear to have called up a backup goalie yet, as goaltending coach Steve Briere participated in practice Wednesday as the second goalie behind Bernier.
