Thrashers sign 48-year-old Chelios, 11-time All-Star

The Atlanta Thrashers have signed 48-year-old defenseman Chris Chelios.

Chelios is a three-time Norris Trophy winner as the NHL's top defenseman. He has spent the season with the AHL Chicago Wolves.

Chelios is expected to remain with the Wolves for now.

Chelios was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1981. He has played in 11 NHL All-Star games and has 185 goals and 763 assists in 1,644 NHL games.
