Tampa Bay Lightning: Fox Sports Sun To Broadcast 75 Lightning Games This Season
Tampa Bay Lightning fans will be happy to know that 75 of the 82 regular season games the Bolts play this season will be broadcast on Fox Sports Sun.
Tampa Bay Lightning fans certainly have plenty of reasons to be happy as the Bolts head into the 2016-17. The biggest of those things is that the off-season is about to bid us farewell as we are now just 32 days away from the official start of the 2016-17 season.
A lot has happened over the course of the off-season. There we players who found themselves in need of a new home for the upcoming season. At the same time, some new faces made their way here to the Bolts Nation. More importantly, some key pieces to the Lightning’s success have secured their long-term future here in the Sunshine State.
As you can imagine, the start of the new season means it’s time for the Tampa Bay Lightning to hit the ice once again and faceoff with the other 29 teams in the National Hockey League for the right to battle for the greatest trophy in the entire sports world, the Stanley Cup.
Unfortunately, there are only 19,092 seats in the Amalie Arena during a hockey game. This leaves many Bolts fans looking for a way to catch all the action. Well, we have some excellent news that should bring a smile to just about any Lightning fan’s face.
Fox Sports Sun and the Tampa Bay Lightning announced earlier this week that of the 82 games the Lightning will play this season, 75 of those games will be broadcast on Fox Sports Sun.
This means anyone who tunes in for the game will get to watch (and listen) as Rick Peckham and Brian Engblom bring you all the action on the ice as it happens. Of course, during the pre-game, intermissions, and post-game, Lightning fans will get commentary from Bobby “The Chief” Taylor, former Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk, and Paul Kennedy.
Beginning in the 2016-17 season, there are going to be more ways than ever to keep up with all the game day action. Back in late July, we told you about a new way to stream all the action on your smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices.
The Fox Sports Go app, which you can get on both the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store, will be streaming all the local broadcasts. This will work much the same way that NBC Sports Network streams their televised games through their NBC Live Extra App.
Of course, this leaves seven Tampa Bay Lightning games that will be nationally broadcast. Yes…this means listening to the commentary from the crew over at the NBC Sports Network.
From what we hear there are some Lightning fans who would rather listen to paint dry. If you are one of those aforementioned Lightning fans, keep this in mind…you can always mute the volume on your television and turn on 970WFLA and listen to Dave Mishkin and Lightning founder Phil Esposito make the call. The decision is in your hands, Bolts Nation.
We could show you the ridiculously long list of games that will be broadcast on Fox Sports Sun; however, it would probably be much simpler for us to show you the seven games you will not see on Fox Sports Sun in the upcoming 2016-17 season.

November will be a busy month for the NBC Sports Network in terms of Lightning games. There are three games scheduled to air on the national network in the month of November. February will be another busy one with two Lightning broadcasts scheduled. From there, we are left with one in March and one in April.
We don’t know about you, but we’ve had just about enough of the off-season. We’re ready to throw on our favorite jersey, paint our faces, and march into the Amalie Arena to scream our heads off for the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s pretty safe to say, there’s no season like hockey season.
