Stempniak scores twice in Devils' 3-1 win over Jets

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA (AP) Lee Stempniak scored twice and Corey Schneider made 22 saves, leading the New Jersey Devils past the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 on Saturday night.

Stempniak recorded his 13th goal of the season in the first period to opening the scoring and then added another on a redirected shot in the third. Jacob Josefson added the other goal for the Devils.

The Jets' lone goal was scored late on the power play by Dustin Byfuglien, his 12th of the season.

Schneider improved to 22-14-5 on the season with the win, while Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck made 13 saves.

Winnipeg's Mathieu Perreault left the game in the first period with a lower-body injury after being hit by Devils forward Tuomo Ruutu.
