Stars to honor fallen Dallas PD officers with helmet decals
The Dallas Stars will open their season at home against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night, and they'll honor fallen Dallas police officers in the process.
To pay tribute to the five officers that lost their lives during a July shootout at an organized protest in Dallas, players on the Stars will wear helmet decals displaying the badges and names of the victims.
Four Dallas PD officers (Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael Smith, and Patricio "Patrick" Zamarripa) and one Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) officer, Brent Thompson, died in the shooting, which was the deadliest single incident for law enforcement officers since the 9/11 attacks.
It's great that the organization is taking the opportunity to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty, and displaying their badges on the team's helmets is a pretty fantastic way to do it.
