Buffalo Sabres goalie Michal Neuvirth is out after sustaining a lower body injury in the first period of a game against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night.

Neuvirth stopped all 10 shots he faced in finishing the period, before being replaced by backup Jhonas Enroth.

The Sabres did not announce the severity of the injury to Neuvirth, who entered the game with a team-best 3-5-1 record.

Neuvirth was making the splits after stopping Justin Braun's shot with 2:41 left, when Sabres teammate Tyler Ennis crashed into the goalie. Ennis knocked the puck across the crease, but the goal was disallowed because the referee ruled Braun interfered with Neuvirth.

Neuvirth missed the final 16 games of last season with a hip injury.
