Reports: Flyers' Giroux injures neck

Published Nov. 20, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

The biggest fear for many fans during the NHL lockout will always be that the entire hockey season is cancelled. A close second, however, is going to be the concern of a star player getting injured while playing overseas.

That’s the concern for Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux, who is returning to the United States after suffering an injury on a check to his head.

Giroux is coming home from Germany, where he has been playing for Eisbaren Berlin, after what he called “just a little neck injury.”

Giroux was injured on a hit Friday, forcing him from the game. Now, it appears that he will head to Atlanta for testing after initial scans revealed no explanation of why he was feeling “unwell.”

Giroux, who has had concussion problems in the past, posted 28-65-93 totals last season for the Flyers
