Report: P.K. Subban faces no more discipline after ejection
Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban reportedly will face no further discipline after being penalized for a slash on Ottawa rookie Mark Stone on Wednesday night.
According to ESPN, NHL discipline chief Stephane Quintal confirmed that the five-minute major and game misconduct penalty Subban was assessed in Wednesday's Game 1 sufficed.
With the puck near Carey Price's net, Subban lifted his stick in the air and chopped hard, bringing it down on Stone's right wrist. The 22-year-old Stone fell to the ice writing in agony, then skated off to the dressing room.
The Senators scored twice and gave up a short-handed goal on the ensuing power play. The Canadiens went on to win the game 4-3.
Stone was back at the Senators' bench roughly 10 minutes after the incident, but left again in the third period. He came back a few minutes later.
The Senators on Thursday said Stone suffered a microfracture and ligament damage in his right wrist, leaving his availability for the rest of the series uncertain.
