Reds not the only option

Published Oct. 13, 2010 10:05 p.m. ET

What some of our staffers will be watching this weekend:

Of course I'll watch the Reds-Phillies today (6 p.m., TBS), but before that I'll tune in the NHL as the Columbus Blue Jackets open their season against San Jose in Stockholm, Sweden (3 p.m., VS.). Making the Sharks roster for the trip is rookie Tommy Wingels, who helped lead Miami University to the Frozen Four the past two seasons. San Jose defenseman Dan Boyle also is a MU alumnus. - Ted Cox

I don't have time to watch hockey - hockey? - on weekday afternoons, Ted. Some of us work. If I'm lucky and we've misplaced the rake, I might be able to squeeze in some college football Saturday. Less interested in OSU-Indiana (noon, ESPN) this week than Michigan-Michigan State (3:30, ABC), a matchup of high-scoring 5-0 teams that threatens to turn into a track meet. - Sean McClelland

I sincerely hope that the Bengals recover from losing to the Browns and get it together against the visiting Buccaneers on Sunday (1 p.m., Fox Ch. 19). We all know what a loss means before the bye week: Everything. Besides, the next four games are at Atlanta, Miami, Pittsburgh and at Indianapolis. Uh-oh. - Marc Pendleton
