The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders traded power play goals in the first period. Wayne Simmonds got things going ending the Flyers goal drought of 134:56 minutes burying a Shayne Gostisbehere point blast, Jake Voracek added the secondary helper.
This was “Ghosts” first point since January 31st vs the Carolina Hurricanes.

Islanders Captain John Tavares tied the game at one with his own power play goal.
The New York Islander took a 2-1 lead 2:53 into the second frame from a Jason Chimera partial breakaway goal. There would be no penalty’s in the second period.

Casey Czikas gave the Islanders a 3-1 lead 1:21 into the third period beating Steve Mason five-hole, definitely a goal he wants back.
Wayne Simmonds took a double minor for roughing going after Isle froward Brock Nelson who was pushed into Steve Mason by Flyers veteran defenseman Mark Streit .
New York took two penalties in the last eight minutes of the game but the Flyers goal scoring struggles continued on as Philadelphia out hit and out shot the Islanders on the night but couldn’t find an answer to beating Thomas Greiss.
The Philadelphia Flyers have fallen one point back of the final wildcard spot with the Boston Bruins defeating San Jose 6-3 tonight. The Islanders also inch closer to the playoffs now just one point behind the Flyers.
The Philadelphia Flyers return to action Saturday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Center vs. The San Jose Sharks at 1:00pm
