Panthers' 'Spacey in Space' sweatshirt makes TV appearance

Kevin Spacey braved the rainy weather to make an appearance on NBC's Today on Wednesday morning.

While dressed conservatively with a dark blue sweater, Spacey apparently was in need of a change of wardrobe in the eyes of co-hosts Willie Geist and Savannah Guthrie. During mid-interview, Geist pulled out a familiar garment for the 56-year-old actor/writer/producer to wear - the "Spacey in Space" blue hoodie, which is the good-luck charm of the Florida Panthers.

Spacey could only laugh before offering praise toward the Atlantic Division-leading Panthers (34-18-7). Via FloridaPanthers.com:

"I'm very pleased that they've been doing incredibly well."

The popular hoodie has become the symbol of excellence for the Panthers, who distribute it to the game's most valuable player.

Future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr and veteran goaltender Roberto Luongo are two of the many who have modeled the look for the team.

Florida also sells the trendy sweatshirt at its team store for $40. Proceeds for the sweatshirt go to the Kevin Spacey Foundation and the Florida Panthers Foundation.
