Oilers' ticket-renewal packages come in McDavid golden envelope
The Oilers haven't had much to celebrate over the past several years, so it makes sense that they're taking advantage of the opportunity after winning the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft and, along with it, the right to select uber-prospect Connor McDavid.
When the team sent out season-ticket renewal packages last week, it sent them in a golden envelope, one that looks identical to the envelope the NHL presented on draft lottery night to announce that the Oilers had moved up to the No. 1 spot.

Of course, Edmonton has had the top overall pick three times since 2010 and has had little success to show for it, so getting fans excited is probably going to take more than a golden envelope that serves as a proxy for hope. But considering that this year's draft lottery represented perhaps the franchise's biggest win (on or off the ice) in years, selling hope isn't the worst way to go.
