News and Injury Update for the Montreal Canadiens
Analyzing Carey Price’s return to the Montreal Canadiens lineup tonight
The Montreal Canadiens have got some great news today. Carey Price will make his season debut tonight against the Arizona Cotoyes. Price’s absence from the crease has created some buzz over the past few days.
Rumors were starting to mount as to whether or not Carey Price’s condition was more serious. During the course of last season, the Habs management were unsure of Carey’s timetable for a possible return. They stated Price would be able to return, however Carey was never healthy enough for a return.
So when Habs the coaching staff was stating that Price was unavailable for the past few games, clearly some doubt was setting in the minds of Habs fans. However you can take a deep breath, Carey’s back!
More from A Winning Habit
Saying the Habs missed the former league MVP and Vezina Trophy winner is an understatement. Last season, Montreal never stopped their free fall in the standings after Price re-aggravated his knee injury, and wound up missing the playoffs. Montreal then went out in the off-season to find a better back up goaltender in case Price was hurt again.
The Canadiens signed goaltender Al Montoya who has looked solid so far to start the season. Montoya has stopped 101 of 105 shots to start the season and is coming off of a shutout win vs the Pens. So far Montoya has looked like an improvement over Mike Condon, however he’s still only played 3 games.
Price had looked brilliant for team Canada during the world cup. Price posted a .957 save precentage and a 1.40 goals against average in the tournament and helped lead Canada to winning it all.
To make room for Carey Price’s return the team obviously needed to make a roster move. As a result the Canadiens have reassigned Charlie Lindgren to the St. Johns Ice Caps.
And thus ends Lindgrens time in Montreal. Sent to the IceCaps today. #TSN690
