New York Islanders Need Two Points, Bad
The New York Islander finish their California road trip as they head a few hours North to play the 2016 Stanley Cup finalists. They need the two points tonight.
Losing is very much a possibility with this New York Islanders team, evidenced by their 6-9-4 record. But their need to start putting some points up on the board.
Already 19 games into the season and the Islanders find themselves four points behind Carolina for seventh in the division. That’s four points to move up a single spot in the standings
We’re not even talking about playoff spots. That’s just moving up a single spot in the standings. To move off of the basement of the division. The Isles are seven points out of a wild-card spot for those who were wondering.
Hopefully, Anthony Beauvillier and John Tavares can start clicking on that top line. Beauvillier has yet to record a point since getting top line honors. Maybe if Beauvillier played with Tavares more frequently on the ice it might.
The Sharks were the recipients of Beaeuvillier’s first NHL goal. Maybe, lightning strikes twice?
The San Jose Sharks have themselves been on a roll since losing to the Penguins in the Stanley Cup finals. Accumulating an 11-8-1 record. As a fan, it’s hard to see a scenario where the Islanders actually take the two points here.
Two points the team could desperately use to keep chase with the rest of the division.
