New York Islanders Daily: Jack Capuano's Job Is Supposedly Safe

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

After an ugly loss and a post game outburst which seemed to be aimed at New York Islanders GM Garth Snow, it seemed like the beginnings of a potential firing coming.

The New York Islanders have got off to a slow start to their season. Some fans are blaming Jack Capuano, some fans are blaming Garth Snow and others are blaming both. Despite the public outcry Capuano’s job is safe.

After Thursday night’s game Jack Capuano seemed to take a shot at Garth Snow

“That’s my concern. Where are we gonna get point production from? We took 134 points out of our lineup that we lost. Now we gotta find a way. Everything gets magnified. I get it,”

The fact of the matter is Snow didn’t do enough to replace key pieces that left via free agency. The free agents he did bring in, Andrew Ladd and Jason Chimera are still goalless eleven games into the season.

Although Snow is getting a lot of the blame, as he should, Capuano isn’t free of blame either. His team continuously comes out flat and is unable to hold a lead late in the third period. The Islanders are currently a dumpster fire, to be brutally honest.

Isles Tweet Of The Day

Our Stuff

The Islanders and Kings are rumored in trade talks (Eyes On Isles)

This is just a rumor, nothing is confirmed or seems to be gaining momentum as of yet. That said if the Kings asked for Halak and a young forward for Jeff Carter or Tyler Toffoli I’d be all in on that.

Recognizing problems vs fixing them (Eyes On Isles)

Garth Snow is actually good at recognizing the problem, it’s just his execution which is lacking. For example Thomas Vanek and Andrew Ladd, well thought out, but the execution? Not so much.

Other Stuff

The Islanders are a hot mess (Barstool Sports)

Connor does a good job, as always, summing up how the fans are feeling. He’s a pretty well known Islanders optimist but like he said there isn’t much to be positive about with this team.

The Islanders have to find their offense. (Newsday)

Arthur Staple is right, the biggest issue with this team is offense. The one positive is that the Islanders recognize the problem, it’s just a matter of fixing it.
