New Penguins defenseman Daley laments lack of opportunity with Blackhawks

Trevor Daley delivered a parting shot to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, one day after being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for fellow veteran defenseman Rob Scuderi.

Daley told Yahoo! Sports in a phone interview that he wasn't given an ample amount of ice time in Chicago to provide a presence on the offensive end.

Acquired in the deal for Patrick Sharp in July, Daley averaged 14:45 of ice time in 29 games with the Blackhawks - a full eight minutes less than his time last season with the Dallas Stars. The 32-year-old Daley, who has six assists in 2015-16, has scored 67 goals and set up 170 others in 785 career contests.

"I don't know that I got the opportunity to even know that I couldn't fit into the system, and that's what's obviously most disappointing. You move and you expect to be a part of it and it isn't being given to you, so you’re always questioning, 'Is it me?' or 'What it is?' ... It's the way this game works. It's safe to say I got to see it first hand."

Scuderi, 36, recorded four assists in 25 games with the Penguins this season.
