Michael Grabner off to a rocky start with Leafs

BY foxsports • October 8, 2015

When the Toronto Maple Leafs traded for Michael Grabner in September, it looked like a great opportunity for a fresh start for the former Islanders' forward. But contrary to any positivity the trade might have generated, the right wing suffered a setback Wednesday night when he couldn't crack the Leafs' opening night roster.

The healthy scratch is another blow for Grabner, who was once a 34-goal scorer back in 2010-11. Grabner's numbers have been in steady decline since that impressive season, and he played in just 34 games for the Islanders last year and posted 13 points (eight goals, five assists).

Grabner is only 28 years old and has plenty of time to regain his form as a valuable member of a team, but it is clear he still has a lot of work ahead of him if he hopes to make an impact with the Leafs.
