Lightning remain mum on Valtteri Filppula's status
Tampa center Valtteri Filppula remains a question mark ahead of Game 1 against the Canadiens following just 3:47 of ice time in the final two periods of Game 7 against the Red Wings. Filppula's decreased ice time could be due to either injury or a roster decision, but the Lightning won't reveal anything about his status.
When asked whether Filppula was suffering from an injury, Lightning GM Steve Yzerman told the media there was "Nothing to report at this time," according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Filppula had been playing on both the power play and penalty kill prior to the marked decrease in ice time and was 7-for-13 on face offs. The 31-year-old forward averaged 16:27 time on ice per game in the first round against the Red Wings.
