Blue Jackets send Torres to Buffalo


The Columbus Blue Jackets have dealt forward Raffi Torres to the Buffalo Sabres for defenseman Nathan Paetsch and a second-round draft pick.

Wild deal Belanger to Caps for second-round pick


The Washington Capitals have acquired center Eric Belanger from the Minnesota Wild for a second-round draft pick.

The 32-year-old Belanger will be a free agent this summer. He has 13 goals and 22 assists in 35 games, ranking seventh in the NHL with wins on 57.6 percent of his faceoffs.

Blues trade Yan Stastny to Vancouver


The St. Louis Blues have traded center Yan Stastny to Vancouver for forward Pierre-Cedric Labrie.

Labrie is 23 and had five goals, one assist and 69 penalty minutes for Manitoba of the American Hockey League. Read more...

Coyotes get Avs' Wolski for Mueller, Porter


The Phoenix Coyotes have acquired left wing Wojtec Wolski from the Colorado Avalanche for forwards Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter.

The 24-year-old Wolski has 17 goals and 30 assists this season in 62 games. The 21-year-old Mueller has had a disappointing follow-up to his outstanding rookie season. He has four goals and 13 assists in 54 games. A year ago he had 22 goals and 32 assists for Phoenix in 82 games. The Detroit Red Wings have acquired prospect Jordan Owens from the New York Rangers in exchange for seldom-used forward Kris Newbury.

Bruins trade Morris to Coyotes, get Seidenberg


The Boston Bruins have traded defenseman Derek Morris to the Phoenix Coyotes and acquired defenseman Dennis Seidenberg from the Florida Panthers.

Morris has three goals, 22 assists and 26 penalty minutes in 58 games for the Bruins this season. Morris finished the 2008-09 season with five goals, 15 assists and 40 penalty minutes in 75 games for the Coyotes and the New York Rangers. Read more...

Canes trade Ward to Ducks, Walker to Caps


The Carolina Hurricanes traded a pair of veteran players and stockpiled draft picks in separate deals before the NHL deadline.

Leafs acquire Skoula, trade him to Devils


The New Jersey Devils have acquired veteran defenseman Martin Skoula from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a fifth-round draft pick.

The 30-year-old Skoula had three goals and five assists in 33 games with Pittsburgh. He was traded to Toronto on Tuesday night as part of a deal that sent left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky to the Maple Leafs. Read more...

The St. Louis Blues have acquired forward Matt D'Agostini from Montreal in exchange for prospect Aaron Palushaj.

The Phoenix Coyotes have made their third trade of the day, acquiring 40-year-old defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Sean Zimmerman and a conditional draft pick this year.

Sabres deal MacArthur to Thrashers


The Buffalo Sabres have traded left wing Clarke MacArthur to the Atlanta Thrashers for a third- and fourth-round draft pick.

MacArthur, Buffalo's 2003 third-round draft pick, was is in his fourth season with the Sabres. He is eligible to become a restricted free agent this summer.

Pens pick up Ponikarovsky


The Pittsburgh Penguins made their second trade in as many days as they look to make another deep playoff run, picking up left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky from the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Luca Caputi and defenseman Martin Skoula.

The Ottawa Senators have acquired veteran defenseman Andy Sutton from the New York Islanders in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2010 NHL draft.

The 34-year-old Sutton has 34 goals and 101 assists in 567 games with San Jose, Minnesota, Atlanta and the Islanders. The 6-foot-6 defenseman has 984 career penalty minutes, including 73 this season while posting four goals and eight assists in 54 games with New York. Read more...

Panthers' Leopold heads to Pens


The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired defenseman Jordan Leopold in a deal with the Florida Panthers.

Ducks send defenseman to Blackhawks


The Anaheim Ducks have traded defenseman Nick Boynton to the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations.
