The Winnipeg Jets thrilled a capacity crowd at the new home of their AHL farm team with a 3-1 preseason win over the Ottawa Senators on Monday.

Mark Scheifele and Troy Bodie scored in the second period for the Jets, who held a 33-25 shots advantage. Ben Maxwell added the other goal for Winnipeg.

Ottawa cut the deficit to 2-1 in the third period when Mika Zibanejad stuffed a shot past goalie Ondrej Pavelec. Despite a lengthy power play in the third period on a fighting penalty taken by Winnipeg's Patrice Cormier, the Senators couldn't net the tying goal.

The game was played before a crowd of 6,275 at the home of the St. John's IceCaps.
