Jackets waive Commodore, call up Calvert

The Columbus Blue Jackets have waived veteran defenseman Mike Commodore and rookie center Kyle Wilson, placed left wing Ethan Moreau on the injured list and recalled left wing Matt Calvert.

The club confirmed the moves Thursday.

Commodore was a healthy scratch in seven of the last eight games and was waived less than a week after requesting a trade. His cap hit is $3.75 million, making it unlikely he will be picked up.

Wilson has four goals and seven assists in 26 games but has wilted in recent weeks.

Moreau injured his ribs in a 4-2 loss in Phoenix on Tuesday. Calvert has 13 goals and 11 assists in 35 games at Springfield of the American Hockey League in his first professional season.
