BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen will miss up to the first two weeks of training camp because of an upper body injury.

Coach Dan Bylsma on Friday did not reveal the nature of the injury. He added that the Sabres learned of the injury a few days ago after camp opened. Ristolainen reported for team physicals Thursday.

Ristolainen is Buffalo's 2013 first-round draft pick. He led Sabres defensemen with eight goals, 12 assists and 20 points in 78 games in his first full NHL season last year.

Forward Cody McCormick is out indefinitely after he failed his physical. Bylsma says the 10-year veteran has not recovered from a blood clot that was discovered in his left leg in January. He missed the rest of the season.
