RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Hurricanes have activated defenseman Ryan Murphy from injured reserve and say forward Martin Frk has been lost to a waiver claim.

General manager Ron Francis announced the moves Tuesday, about seven hours before the Hurricanes play at Ottawa.

Murphy has been out since suffering a lower body injury in an exhibition game against Buffalo on Oct. 4. He will be eligible to skate against the Senators.

The Hurricanes claimed Frk on waivers from Detroit on Oct. 9. After he was waived, the Red Wings claimed him back.
