Chicago Blackhawks forward Dan Carcillo was suspended for two games by the NHL on Saturday due to an illegal check on Hurricanes defenseman Joni Pitkanen the previous night in Carolina.

Carcillo was penalized for a hit from behind at 1:47 of the first period which sent Pitkanen into the end boards. Carcillo was not whistled for a penalty on the play.

He missed the Blackhaws' game against Columbus on Saturday night and will also sit out Monday against Nashville.
