Frank Vatrano makes the cut as Bruins send Max Talbot back to Providence
The Boston Bruins are hanging on to the youth movement for the time being, as the team sent veteran forward Max Talbot back to AHL affiliate Providence Monday while electing to keep 21-year-old rookie Frank Vatrano on the NHL roster.
Talbot played in three games for the Bruins after forward Chris Kelly broke his femur, but the 31-year-old was used sparingly as he never reached 10 minutes of ice time in any of those three games.
Vatrano, however, saw between 12 and 14 minutes of ice time in his two games with the Bruins, and the rookie recorded a goal in his NHL debut against Montreal. Talbot has no points in five games with the Bruins this season.
Vatrano was originally recalled to replace injured forward David Pastrnak who missed four games with a bruised foot. Talbot's demotion could mean Pastrnak is ready to return to the lineup, and it is a clear vote of confidence in the young Vatrano.
